Being a Grad at TEQUILA\ London – The Training Scheme.
Looking back at my first six months at TEQUILA\ my initial thought is indisputably, ‘doesn’t time fly when you’re having fun?’ It seems like only yesterday that i arrived at Dean Street, suited-and-booted, coat-hanger in mouth, ready to start my career and life as a real grown-up. I think myself and the other two newbie grads managed to keep up the pretence that we were very serious and straight-laced for all of the first two minutes. There is something about TEQUILA\ and the people that work here, that immediately makes you feel at home.
Our first few weeks all seem to blur into one long montage of power-point presentations from some of the most intelligent, inspiring, witty and senior/scary people in the agency. Following this, we were put through our paces on a rotation scheme through the various departments, and transformed from quiet grad caterpillars into true agency-wide social butterflies. I learnt that every good Account Handler must love (and often bribe) their Project Manager. New Business is all about conversation, often started as a result of some sneaky pre-meeting stalking on the net. I now know every swear word in the book having tested the profanity filter for a new website in the Digital Department. Our stint cleint-side with BHF, working on food-research, alomst completely destroyed my love of all things naughty but nice!
On top of our internal training programme we also participated in the Omnicom grad-offering, which allowed us the opportunity to work with a number of grads from various agencies on a pitch for Sony Vaio. It was this experience which taught me the invaluable lessons of team-work, dedication to a project in the face of adversity and how to grin whilst biting your tongue so hard you want to cry!
But as a grad at TEQUILA\ it’s not just about hard-work, and i’m sure that both Kat and Ali will agree with me when I say that we really have had a lot of fun these past months too. We are now bar regulars, pool sharks, dancing queens and karaoke kings.
I think that it is safe to say that TEQUILA\ has made a big impression on all three of us. Not only as a hard-working, successful and ambitious workplace, but also as an agency which attracts and nurtures some of the most exciting, talented and downright lovely people I have ever met.
Now ask away with any questions you have!!!
